Participatory budgeting is an informal educative space that provides powerful learning experiences in citizenship and democracy. Participants become more knowledgeable, skilled, democratic, engaged, and caring, which demonstrates that participatory budgeting serves as an innovative “school of citizenship.” Ultimately, this
study aims to contribute to capacity-building strategies for democratic deliberation and decision-making,
and to the development of a more democratic and educative political culture.
